Dance. (word art)

Word Art is NOW my current favorite project of design art.

I loved doing this project. I chose the word "Dance",

Our assignment was to make a picture that spelled out a word (a noun) somehow in the picture.

We also had to include different media in this project, and so what i did, was cut out the black figurines (the shapes of the letters) on a black paper and stick it onto a red paper. I also had 2 ribbons smoothly flowing in my picture, which i colored with purple and metallic silver.

I really liked this project and am most proud of my letter 'A', (it is the one that is the skirt in the picture) because i think the

sketching of that letter is exceptional, compared to all the rest.

I am stubborn, so, because of all the little spaces i had to cut in between i was hesitant to use scissors, so i used that pocket knife thing, which was not the smartest move, on my part. I made some of the ends rugged because of that knife, so i had to go back and cut off the torn bits.

1.Draw letters seperately (or if they are all one color, on one piece of paper)

2. Cut letters out

3. Arrange letters on background piece of paper so they spell out a word

4. Glue arranged letters

5. Add any extra detailing! :D

yes, yes, i know, it's VERY simillar to my piece of artwork, because it even features the ribbon.

-.-". I'm not sure how they resembled each other so much, but i like mine better (hehe) this one is too cartoonish. And seriously? Look at that 'E'. The girl on the top is in an unnatural position and the 'D' and 'A' are so boring, and not very creative.

At least in my opinion.

I feel special! i like my own artwork more then a 'so called professional' piece of artwork.

Tessellations Part 2 (BAGS!)

This was probably by far, my favorite Design Art project so far.

We did this project right after the tessellations project, so sorry for the inconvienient order of posts.

I really loved the outcome of my bag. It was orange with leopard and feathered print as the tessellation, resembled a pumpkin, and sort of realistic. :D I'm not trying to be vain or self-centered or concieted, but i thought i did a really good job on this project. I'm really happy for it, because it gave me a chance to redo and expand on what i already know about tessellations, because I wasn't completely happy with my design. And, i can HONESTLY say i LOVE my bag. I'd truthfully wear that bag. With Pride. :O You'd see me strutting down the street with an epic bag, and be so jealous. You'd ask me where i got it, I'd say I made it, then you'd ask how i made it.

And this is what i would say:

Trace tessellations, the way you would with normal tessellations (see "tessellations" post.) and then trace them from a lightbox onto your bag. But first, sketch your bag, the way you want it to look, then pick places on that bag that you would like to tessellate. Then use a light box underneath your bag and trace. Voila!

*GASP* I just found out that there is no picture of my bag on the "Z" drive at this very moment. But do not worry, i have a video for you. :)

iSkins

This is the finished product,and my inspiration for my Jingle.

I'm sort of happy with it. Not really.

I find the colors are incredibly dull in this picture, but they are in real life as well. I think my font could have been much bigger and the color isn't that impressive. I sort of rushed myself on the poster part of this project, and the screen saver isn't the vibe i wanted to give off for my artwork. It seems to mainstream to me now, and my color choices dissapoint me a bit. I wanted it to be really magical looking, and don't get me wrong, i LOVE neon colors, and pop-culture pictures, but, i was aiming for a more mystical and less cartoon(ish) looking design.

To be honest, i don't know if i would really buy this iSkin for myself. It wouldn't be my first choice, but i do like it. Sort of. I had another option, this brick wall picture, it had little zippers and windows, doors, and peep holes, basically opening to another word. i adore the concept of that iSkin. I tried reasoning with myself, and finding deeper meaning in this painting, like i found with the brick wall. All i could come up with was the two strangers meeting and gazing at stars. Gee, so inspiring. (see jingle below.)

Nah, i'm pretty happy with it... I suppose.....

I guess on camera it looks really washed out and unprofessional. But, it looks like that in real life too :/

Steps to make this wonderful piece of art:

1. Get the iPad template

2. Draw design

3. Color design

4. Cut out design

5. Create slogan

6. Draw Slogan

7. Cut and paste onto poster (try to pick eye catching colors)

I've decided i'm pretty happy with my piece of work. :)

My Very Deep Jingle. :)

Alone in the night sky, the lone star shines bright.

Only strangers can see the light.

Burning underneath the rays,

This star marks the end, of lonesome days.

They run from the castle, bursting for air, hoping their chemistry, will end their despair.

So, that was my incredibly deep, inspiring *JINGLE*

What this jingle means to ME: I see this jingle as a poem, but i sort of has a double meaning.

Lets decode my jingle!:

Alone in the night sky, the lone star shines bright

- This symbolizes the star, and more importantly, the strangers.

Only strangers can see the light.

- symbolizes the strangers, and how the star (sort of) brought them together.

Burning underneath the rays,

This star marks the end, of lonesome days.

- this line is probably the most significant of them all, it shows how the star and i guess the brightness and beauty of it, brought these two together, ending the lonesome days, subliminally, meaning the skin on the iPad, marks the lonesome days of your cold, skinless iPad.

They run from the castle, bursting for air, hoping their chemistry, will end their despair.

- To me this part signifies that they leave the place, but plan to start a new life, together. And honestly, it has no connection, whatsoever to the iPad. hehe.

But that was my goal with my Jingle anyway, i hope i succeeded.

i'm going to be making a better, improved version of this video, including a video.

Tessellation

This is my Tessellation. For the most part, i'm pretty happy with it. It's kind of abstract and i really like the yellow background picking up the yellow in the center. I spent a LOT of time working on this project, I traced every tiny little swirl, line, circle and scribble imaginable. During the process i sorta WISHED i had chosen a different tesselation. I'm still not to sure about the center design....

But seeing it with the back ground. (Even as i'm writing this) i'm liking it a whole lot more. (maybe the miniature size has something to do with it?)

This was kind of a challenge, but i learned to not sweat the small stuff (coloring out of the lines, tracing in the wrong place etc. etc.) during art and that's something I'm really proud of. I'm definately NOT a perfectionist.

I see my artwork as kind of a 'hippie' piece of artwork. You know, with the soothing (peaceful) colors, like yellow, purple green and orange... It's just calming, peacful and at the same time exciting.

Here is how I made it:

1.On a small sheet of paper fold one quarter of it.

2. Draw a design ( any kind you want ) on it.

3. Use a lightbox to trace the design on each quarter

4. Get a new piece of Paper and trace design onto their.

5. Make at least 6 pieces of paper.

6. Color in each piece of paper, using the same color's and patterns.

7. Arrange shape of Tessellation and glue onto a black sheet of paper.

8. For added affect, choose a good contrasting color for the background.

9. TA-DA!!! :) :)

A little Disturbed...

SOME TESSELATIONS:

His artwork is very dark to me, but still intriguing and i do kind of like it! I think an eerie song like "I'm So Sick" By Flyleaf really suits his artwork perfectly, I'm not sure if i'm that fond of it, just because of the darkness, but i do see that it is the work of a Mathmatician, A dark Mathmatician.

A very possible reason for this is the things i've noticed in his work.

1. in the eye picture, there is a skull in the pupil

2. in one picture, dead hands are trapped inside a cage

3. His artwork kind of looks demonic/possesed/satanic.

4. His shading and coloring is very dark.

I have said dark alot, i do realise.
